Nigel Withington
Nigel started singing in school choirs and regional music festivals from a very young age. During his high school years he performed the lead roles in Oliver! and South Pacific.
He is a member of a number of Christchurch musical entities including The Opera Club and The Entertainment Company (formerly Chant et Danse). Since 2007 Nigel has been a member of cabaret band ‘The Great Pretenders’ performing at Twiggers Restaurant Addington Raceway.
Nigel has a passion for singing different musical genres from pop and rock to musical theatre and opera. In 2013 he joined the chorus for New Zealand Opera’s productions of Acis and Galatea and Don Giovanni. Since then, Nigel has understudied the role Parpignol in La Boheme (2014), performed the role of the Official Registrar in Madame Butterfly (2015) and last year performed Giuseppe in La Traviata.
An Evening of Rodgers and Hammerstein Classics marks Nigel’s return to Showbiz having last performed in WestEnd To Broadway 3 (2005) and Starry Nights (2006).
