Rychalo Thompson

Rychalo has been on and off the stage his whole life. Proudly claiming Maori and Spanish heritage, he wrote and performed an original screenplay, Soul Brother, when he was at high school.

He majored in acting and voice at Excel School of Performing Arts and graduated in 1999 with a Diploma in Performing Arts (Acting and Voice).  He then toured New Zealand for nine months performing in the Excel musical Forgive and Forge.

In 2003 he moved to the UK and joined three acoustic rock bands, performing in festivals, bars and venues in and around London. He was also involved in the local acting scene and worked on various plays and pantomimes.

When he returned to New Zealand in 2007 he took a break from performing and taught guitar and bass. He returned to the stage in 2012 in the role of Ritchie Valens in his first Showbiz Christchurch production, Buddy - The Buddy Holly Story.

Rychalo is also a solo performer for weddings and local events around Christchurch.
