Thomas has been involved with productions and musical performance, in one way or another, from a young age.

He was part of the backstage crew for Evita in 2016 and again with Sister Act in 2017. He made his Showbiz on-stage debut performing in the chorus for An Evening of Rodgers and Hammerstein Classics in 2017.

Thomas has been a member of the Christchurch Youth Choir (CYC) since 2015 and Atlas Voices since the middle of 2016. He has crewed and performed in the orchestra for many school productions during his school years at Otago Boys High School. He competed in several vocal singing competitions, and was also a performing member of St Kilda Brass Band during high school.
