Auditions for The Four Seasons – Jersey Boys

Showbiz Christchurch is seeking performers to play the iconic members of The Four Seasons in our upcoming production of Jersey Boys.

This audition round is specifically for the principal roles of the band. These auditions are separate from ensemble and wider casting, which will take place at a later date.

Performers will be asked to prepare audition material for one role they wish to be considered for.

The Four Seasons

  • Frankie Valli

    20s to 40s, male presenting.

    Vocal Range: C3 - G5 (full voice to A4 or Bb4)

    Strong tenor with sweet and powerful falsetto, able to sing in the style of Frankie Valli. Strong tenor range to high A or Bb with a strong falsetto up to treble G. Charismatic and charming with a gritty edge beneath a polished exterior. Very comfortable singing traditional four part harmonies. Frankie is the lead vocalist of The Four Seasons and appears throughout most of the show.

  • Tommy DeVito

    20s to 40s, male presenting.

    Vocal Range: C3 - C5 (full voice to E4 min) or G4 (ideal)

    Strong tenor or baritone voice and confident with traditional four part harmonies. Funny, street smart and a natural born leader with an appealing bad boy quality. A wise guy whose decisions ultimately lead to serious trouble when he racks up a debt with a loan shark.

  • Nick Massi

    20s to 40s, male presenting.

    Vocal Range: E3 - E4 (full voice to E4)

    Strong bass or baritone voice and very comfortable with traditional four part harmonies. Quiet, thoughtful and often understated with a dry deadpan sense of humour. A dreamer who longs for a life beyond the band and someone with a strong ear for vocals who helps Frankie refine his singing.

  • Bob Gaudio

    20s to 40s, male presenting.

    Vocal Range: Bb2 - Db5 (full voice to G4 min) or Bb4 (ideal)

    Strong tenor or baritone voice and very confident singing traditional four part harmonies. Intelligent, sensitive and introspective. A musical prodigy and the primary songwriter behind the group’s success. The youngest and final member to join The Four Seasons.

Audition Requirements

Auditionees will be asked to prepare the following:

• The provided sides for one character they wish to be considered for
• The provided music cut for that character
• A one minute cut of a song of their choice in the style of the show

Those auditioning for Frankie Valli will be asked to prepare two sides and two music cuts.

Music for your chosen song:
Auditionees may bring a backing track and connect to the audition room speakers via Bluetooth, or bring sheet music for the provided accompanist. Backing tracks are preferred and will be used for the provided Jersey Boys music cuts.

There will be no dance component at this stage.

If performers are later considered for other roles or the ensemble, they may be invited to attend a dance call at a later date.

Please note that all roles are offered on a voluntary basis.

Video Submissions

If you are unable to attend the scheduled auditions in person, you may submit a video audition.

You must still complete the audition registration form, regardless of whether you audition in person or by video.

Audition materials, including sides (script pages) and music cuts, will be provided after your application has been submitted.

Video submissions must be received by 5:00pm, Friday 20 March.

Submission instructions will be included with the audition materials.
