Showstoppers: The Showbiz Singers

A fun, relaxed musical theatre singing group!

We know there’s a lot of singing groups out there, but Showstoppers is a bit different!

Love musical theatre? Looking for an opportunity to sing, perform and connect with like-minded people without the commitment of a full production?

Showstoppers is the performance choir of Showbiz Christchurch, bringing together singers who share a passion for musical theatre. Throughout the season, members rehearse and perform a selection of musical theatre favourites at community events, retirement villages and special concerts.

Showstoppers is ideal for people who have performed in shows before, love singing musical theatre repertoire and want to be part of a welcoming and supportive community. While we're committed to presenting high-quality performances, the emphasis is on enjoyment, connection and sharing the joy of musical theatre with our audiences.

Showstoppers 2026 Season

The 2026 season will begin on Sunday 26 July and conclude with our final performance on Sunday 1 November 2026.

Rehearsals will be held predominantly on Sunday afternoons from 3.00pm to 6.00pm at Showbiz Studios, 369 St Asaph Street, Christchurch.

In addition to rehearsals, members will participate in a number of performances throughout the season. While most performances are scheduled on Sundays, there may also be some weekday engagements.

Expressions of Interest

To help us plan for the season and ensure we have a balanced and sustainable choir, all singers are required to complete an Expression of Interest.

This is not an audition process. Expressions of Interest allow us to understand members' availability and ensure we can meet the performance commitments of the season.

As places are limited, membership will be offered based on factors including voice balance, availability and the overall needs of the choir.

Applicants will be advised of the outcome of their Expression of Interest as soon as possible following the closing date.

Commitment

Members are expected to attend at least 90% of rehearsals and be available for the majority of scheduled performances.

Members: $40

Non-members: $45
